Simon Bird

A phenomenally-talented director, writer and performer, Simon Bird rose to acclaim starring as Will McKenzie in the seminal and multi-BAFTA-winning C4 sitcom “The Inbetweeners”, “The Inbetweeners Movie” and its sequel. Simon’s other acting credits include six series of C4’s BAFTA-nominated “Friday Night Dinner” and 2023’s C4/CW series, “Everyone Else Burns”, described by Time as “the funniest network sitcom on TV”.

Simon’s 2016 short film, “Ernestine & Kit”, premiered at SXSW where it was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. Following this, his debut feature film, “Days of the Bagnold Summer”, was released in 2020 and described by Mark Kermode as “a gem of a movie… laugh-out-loud funny and piercingly poignant”. It was nominated for the Variety Piazza Grande Award at the Locarno Film Festival and named Best Feature at the LUCAS International Festival For Young Film Lovers.

In the world of Television, Simon directed the third series of BBC Three’s BAFTA-nominated comedy “Pls Like” and the first series of the viral sketch show “Ellie & Natasia” which was nominated for a BAFTA and described by The Times as “the funniest and most refreshing take on the format for years”.

More recently he directed the first series of A24’s critically-acclaimed “Such Brave Girls” which premiered on BBC3 in November 2023 and Hulu in the US in December 2023. It was described by The Guardian as “hands down the funniest British comedy of the year”.
