Tomas Leach

Graduating from the eminent Bournemouth Film School and renowned Italian studio Fabrica, Tomas honed his voice as a documentarian and storyteller working on short-films, feature documentaries, branded films and commercials.

Tomas’s 2009 virals for BMW were included in the Creative Review Annual. He has directed documentary film for global brands including Ikea, Powerade, Vodafone and IBM.

With many strings to his bow, Tomas directs and curator of the Little Scraps of Paper project, an ongoing series of films that uses the sketchbooks of creative people as a lens to explore the question of what exactly creativity is.

In 2013, Tomas directed his first feature, a documentary portrait of the pioneering American photographer Saul Leiter – “In No Great Hurry” –  which has delighted audiences and art fans across the globe.

In 2016 his second feature film, The Lure – a gorgeously photographed documentary about Forrest Fenn’s legendary hidden treasure in the Rocky Mountains, premiered at New York’s DOC NYC. The film was Executive Produced by Errol Morris and produced by Moxie Pictures.

Also in 2016, Tomas directed “The Lonely Giant” for the Stories For Ways And Means project. Founded by record label Waxploitation, the project commissioned notable music artists to reimagine classic children’s stories. In Tomas’ film, Andre Royo (“Bubble” from “The Wire”) recounts Nick Cave’s version of “The Lonely Giant”.

In addition to his documentary work, Tomas has directed commercial spots for brands including: Walmart, CVS, IBM, Dell, Ikea, Vodafone and Channel 4 to name a few.

He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.
