Ruben Fleischer

A hugely-acclaimed film and TV director with a devoted cult following, Ruben Fleischer’s prolific and eclectically genre-bending work spans the gamut of action, horror and comedy, and everything in between.

Ruben began his career as an award-winning commercial and music video director, before making the inevitable transition to feature film.

His cult breakthrough feature, the wickedly snarky horror-comedy  “Zombieland”, was released in 2009. The film starred Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Jesse Eisenberg, and had the rare honour of being both a critical-darling and a huge box-office smash.

In 2011, Ruben directed the macabre-comedy “30 Minutes Or Less”. This was followed up in 2013 by the prohibition-era action-caper “Gangster Squad” starring Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Josh Brolin. And then in 2018 he directed Tom Hardy in the action-packed superhero epic “Venom”.

Fleischer’s latest feature, the fiercely anticipated adaptation of Sony’s seminal video-game franchise “Uncharted” starring Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, and Antonio Banderas, was released in 2022.

Beyond his success in film, Fleischer has carved out an enviable career in the television industry. He garnered an Emmy nomination for his work in developing and executive producing “Jury Duty” for Amazon. He directed the pilots of both “The Good Lawyer” for ABC and “St. Denis Medical” for NBC. More recently, Fleischer produced the limited series “The White House Plumbers” – again starring Woody Harrelson – for HBO and directed the pilot of the horror-comedy “Santa Clarita Diet” – starring Drew Barrymore – for Netflix.

Outside of film and TV, Ruben has enjoyed a prolific career in commercials and has directed campaigns for global brands such as Nike, Sony and Samsung amongst many others.
