Diane Morgan

A multi-awarded director, writer and performer, Diane is the reigning queen of surreal and dead-pan British comedy and the creator, writer and director of the hit BBC sitcom “Mandy”.

Diane began her career as a stand-up comedian and one-half of the sketch-duo “Two Episodes Of Mash” with Joe Wilkinson (“8 Out Of Ten Cats Do Countdown”) before moving on to perform in a series of iconic and hugely popular British comedy shows. These include the role of Liz in the  BAFTA winning comedy series “Motherland”, all 3 seasons of Ricky Gervais’ smash-hit Netflix comedy “After Life”, and BBC’s “Inside Number 9” with Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton.

Diane is probably best known for her critically-acclaimed and globally-beloved performance as her comic alter-ego – the professional dim-wit and anti-expert – “Philomena Cunk”. Cunk first appeared on “Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe” and its Netflix spin-offs “Death To 2020” and “Death to 2021”. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the character BBC2 commissioned two comedy specials fronted by Cunk: the BAFTA-nominated “Cunk on Shakespeare”; the Christmas special “Cunk on Christmas” and the 5-part series “Cunk on Britain” and its follow-up “Cunk on Earth”.

In 2019 Diane made the inevitable move to behind the camera when she wrote, directed and starred in the comedy pilot of “Mandy” for the BBC. Following its success a full series was commissioned and was the highest-rated comedy on BBC2 in 2020. An equally rapturously received Christmas special followed and the second series aired in 2021.

“Mandy” Series 3 is currently in production and due to air on the BBC in 2023.
