Director Christopher Werner’s latest for NBC’s Saturday Night Live captures a spooky staple with a clever parody that blends Halloween “spirit” with sharp comedy.

In the spoof, cast members playfully poke fun at the ubiquitous Spirit Halloween, for “providing vulnerable communities with what they need most: rash-inducing wigs, single-use fog machines, and costumes of famous characters altered just enough to avoid a lawsuit.”

The SNL Spirit Halloween sketch has already racked up nearly 950,000 views on YouTube, quickly becoming one of the standout clips from the show’s Season 50 premiere.
