In honor of Pride month, Lee Hirsch teamed up with Verizon for a raw and honest look at how difficult coming out can be for members of the LGBTQ community. “Love Calls Back” features testimonies from LGBTQ people about the challenges of getting loved ones to support their true selves, while their loved ones express what they wish they had said right away. Eventually, each family is united through a call to express their unconditional love.
The campaign is a follow up to Verizon’s 2018 Pride campaign, which featured LGBTQ people coming out to loved ones over the phone. Lee spoke to HuffPost, saying that for this year’s video he wanted to speak to those “who might not have gotten that immediate affirmation of love and acceptance.”
The campaign is a part of Verizon’s partnership with PFLAG, an advocacy group that supports LGBTQ people and their families, and has picked up a ton of buzz with features in The Drum, Newsweek, AdAge, and more.
We’re proud to be a part of such a powerful project for a phenomenal cause. Watch it above now and see more from Lee on his reel
